Good morning, good afternoon and good evening and welcome to Castology. The team kick things off with their recommendations: Liz goes for the cultural touchstone S-Town to nudge those who haven't yet listened to do so; Patrick brings a bit of The Church of What's Happening Now with Joey Coco Diaz; and Zane goes out of left field with a curated music podcast featuring an LGBTQI+ twist called Homoground. Then, stick around to hear the verdicts on last week's recommendations.
Liz Recommends - S-Town
If you didn't listen to S-Town (from the makers of Serial and This American Life) when it was cool, Liz is giving you the official Castology nudge to get on it now. What started out as John hating his hometown in Alabama and calling in an investigative journalist to look into a possible murder and coverup in the neighbourhood, turns into something completely different when another death occurs. There's apparently a lawsuit against the makers of this podcast so listen now, before it's taken down!
For both: It's another serial one folks, start from the start and listen until at LEAST the end of episode two before you decide if you want more.

Pat Recommends - The Church of What's Happening Now

Joey 'CoCo' Diaz is a maniac. That is an understatement. He is also a comedian, actor and podcaster with a wild, wild past. Find out about it on The Church of What's Happening Now. The usual podcast format is an interview with whoever's brave enough to come on. The guests are wide ranging, often those individuals who've been lucky enough to lead lives as interesting as Joey's. Otherwise it's Joey and offsider Lee Syatt talking about whatever comes up, or trading stories from their past.
For Zane & Liz: Pick a guest that you like, or take a deep dive with the 'Acid Church' episode.
Zane Recommends - Homoground
Now this is the very first podcast of this kind that I have come across. a music curation podcast. If you are like me and live in a bit of a music-bubble, and struggle to hear new stuff then this might be the new wave of podcasting for you. The Homoground podcast features music from LGBTQ and allied bands to bring exposure & access to queer bands, especially to those who live in isolated areas.
